Mr. Sedireng ‘Sed’ Serumola is the Managing Director of Diamond Trading Company (DTC) Botswana, which is the world’s largest and most sophisticated rough diamond sorting and valuing company. He joined DTC Botswana in September 2019 from Debswana Diamond Company (Jwaneng Mine), where he briefly held the position of Assistant General Manager.
Sed holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) Degree in Mining Engineering (Mineral Processing Option) from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Cape Town. Sed has also undergone several leadership development programs including the prestigious Executing Strategy for Results from the London Business School.
His mining career began with the Department of Mines over 20 years ago. In 2002 he joined Geoflux Consulting Engineers as a Process Engineer where he worked on several prefeasibility and feasibilities studies with Debswana Projects.
Sed joined Debswana Diamond Company (Jwaneng Mine) in 2004 and made a significant contribution to the success of Jwaneng Mine, both from a leadership and technical perspective. One of his notable contributions was the design of construction of slimes dams with waste rock.
Between 2013 and 2018, Sed held the position of Senior Ore Processing Manager in the Ore Processing department where he led a diverse team of engineers and metallurgists to achieve excellent results in the operation and maintenance of all diamond processing plants at Debswana Jwaneng Mine. Through his energy and focused engagement with the Jwaneng Mine employees and business partners, he managed to influence a positive safety culture that embodies a sense of ownership and genuine care and consideration for people.
At DTC Botswana, Sed is working with his team and business partners to transform the organisation into a high-performing organisation. DTC Botswana is driven by a purpose of unlocking diamond value, and adding sparkle to lives. The organisation is now positioned to release value as well as drive sustainable socio-economic initiatives.
Sed is passionate about self-development and the development of others. He continuously creates the necessary time for mentoring and coaching.
