Rino Meyers’ 45 year career as a pharmacist brought him to work in over 70 countries in areas of pharmaceutical supply chain, health insurance, pharmaceutical markets, management of central medical stores, social marketing, procurement, quality assurance and quality control, HIV treatment and care, development of national pharmaceutical programs and health programs, design and installation of pharmaceutical stores and management software for these, hospitals and health facilities and QC laboratories, development of training modules and training for the pharma sector and the provision of technical assistance and the management of teams in support of these sectors.
He has spent an important part of this career in the Caribbean and in Africa, with the past 9 years in Zambia, where he is based.
He worked for national governments, private companies like Novartis and Siemens, UN agencies as WHO, UNDP, UNAIDS, UNFPA and for EU, USAID and bilateral funded projects, mostly in leadership positions.
His interest for local manufacturing is currently used in support of the Zambian Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Initiative (ZPMI) and the Botswana Pharmaceutical sector study funded by the EU Africa RISE Facility.
