Ambassador Petra Pereyra is a lawyer by training with more than fifteen years of experience in EU External Action, having served in various functions, including as Head of Unit for Communications in the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations before joining the European Union Delegation in September 2022.
Previously, she was leading the Humanitarian Aid Operations in the Sahel and West Africa region. In the department for International Partnerships, she was in charge of supporting the EU Delegations to design and implement programmes in the areas of justice, security, the rule of law and good governance. She was also responsible for inter-institutional relations within the EU and budget discharge for the external action spending.
Before joining the EU, Petra Pereyra has worked as a researcher of international law in the University of Helsinki and in the Legal Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
